RICHARD PETER6 MAXFIELD (Joseph5, Benjamin4, Joseph3-2, John1) was born at New York on 13 November 1853 (Myers, 1900 census), a child of Joseph Maxfield and his wife Artemisia Munson. The 1895 Minnesota census indicated he had lived in his community for 32 years and 6 months, therefore he moved to Mower County, Minnesota about October 1862. The 1880 census (626:472D) reported Richard living with his brother Joseph at LeRoy, Mower County, Minnesota.
Richard Peter Maxfield married ANNA BLACKMER on 28 January 1892 (Myers). Called "Nanna," she was born at Michigan on September 1871 (1900 census). The 1895 Minnesota State census (77:413) reported Richard P. Maxfield, age 41, born New York, resident of the state and of that location 32 years and 6 months, a livery man at LeRoy, Mower County. With him was Anna A. Maxfield, 23, born at Michigan.

Richard and Nannie had been married seven years; she had two children, both living.
The 1910 census (712:1B) found the growing family at LeRoy village. Richard was manager of a livery stable. They had a third child, Kathryn, age 9. Nanny's age was estimated at 35. The household included a boarder, and a "brother-in-law" Horsey J. Baihr, age 55, widowed, born at Arkansas.
Richard P. Maxfield died at Mower County on 6 May 1927 (Mn D).
