ASA6 MAXFIELD (Nathan5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Loudon, New Hampshire, on 16 May, probably in 1812 (1805--F; 1810/1 in 1870 Census; 1811/2 in 1850, 1880 censuses; 1812--NMGR 7:68). Asa's parents were Nathan Norton Maxfield and his wife Hannah Hill. Asa married DELISHA ELDRIDGE (NMGR 7:68) at Exeter, Maine, on 2 February 1834 (ME M). Delisha was born at Dennis, Massachusetts, on 14 April 1817, according to her death record. This Maxfield family lived in Exeter, Maine (F).
The 1840 Census (149:266) reported the Asa Maxfield family in Exeter including one male and one female in their 20s, one male and one female between 5 and 10, and one male under 5. This record does not agree entireley with our information from other sources on the composition of the family.

In 1860 census (446:738) reported this family consisted of Asa, 48, farmer, Delitia, 43, Mary H., 17, George W., 14, Ellen D, 11, and Hattie A., 6. All of the children were in school. This family was still in Exeter at the time of the 1870 Census (553:1:521B) but had shrunk considerably:

Still in Exeter in 1880, the Census (485:511B) reported Asa, age 68, farmer, and Delisha, age 63.
Asa Maxfield died on 4 August 1881, age 69 years and 2 months (NE Cems). Delisha died at Exeter on 23 May 1899 (VR ME). They were both buried at Vickery Cemetery, Exeter (NE Cems).
