CYRUS6 MAXFIELD (James5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Union, Maine, on 23 September 1824 (NMGR 7:68), a child of James Batchelder Maxfield and his wife Hannah Batchelder. Cyrus probably moved west to Illinois with his parents in 1838. He was reported living with his brother Josiah in New Boston Township, Mercer County, Illinois, in the 1850 Census (365). Cyrus Maxfield made his home in New Boston.
Cyrus Maxfield married ELIZA G. PRENTIS at Rock Island County, Illinois, on 14 September 1851 (IL M). Eliza was born in Ohio about 1827/8 (1870 Census).
The 1860 Census (211:928) reported at New Boston Township, Mercer County, Cyrus Maxfield, 32, livery man, Eliza, 32, Ada, 7, in school, and Sue, 7.
