NATHANIEL WILLIAM6 MAXFIELD (James5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born probably at Union, Maine, on 23 June 1821 (NMGR 7:47). His parents were James Batchelder Maxfield and his wife Hannah Batchelder.

Nathaniel Maxfield married DEBORAH ALBRO at Peoria County, Illinois, on 3 November, 1847 (IL M). She was born in New York on 7 February 1830 (IGI, February 1831 in 1900 Census, 1830/1 in 1880 Census, 1831 in 1870, 1920 censuses).

The 1850 Census (Stark Co. 195) reported the Nathaniel Maxfield family in Stark County, Illinois, as follows:

This family was also reported in the 1850 Census in Knox County ( Knox Co.420). There Deborah was reported 19 years old, Polly Albro is called Mary Albro, and in a separate household at the same address are S. C. Albro (male), 32, wagon maker, and May T. Albro, 8.

The 1860 census (207:) reported this family at Salem Township, Marion County, Illinois, consisting of Nathaniel Maxfield, 36, waggon maker, Sabra Maxfield, 38, James, 11, Jake, 9, Sarah, 7, and Nora, 2.

This family appears to be reported in the 1870 Census (438:1:87A), in Paris Township, Jackson Post Office, Linn County, Kansas, although the name of the head of the family is mis-stated:

Nathaniel Maxfield died perhaps on 6 January 1898 (IGI). In 1900 widow Deborah Maxfield was living with her son-in-law and daughter, Albert and Sarah Barton, at Crawford, Dawes County, Nebraska, as reported in the Census (921:2:47):

Widow Debbie Maxfield was still living with her son-in-law and daughter at the time of the 1920 Census (980:4B), at Fourth Avenue, Dunning village, Blaine County, Nebraska. Deborah was 88 years old.
