WILLIAM McCRILLIS6 MAXFIELD (Eliphalet5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Durham, New Hampshire, on 25 December 1793 to Eliphalet Maxfield and his wife Jane McCrillis. He moved with his parents to China, Maine, and remained there the rest of his life.
MARY PARKMAN married William M. Maxfield on 17 January 1819 (NMGR 7:64). Mary was born at Duckstrap, Maine, or Camden, Maine, on 9 November 1798 (NMGR 7:64).
The William Maxfield family appeared in Searsport, Maine, in the 1820 Census, but in China, Maine in 1830, 1850 and 1860. The 1820 Census (34:569) reported the newly married couple, a male 26 to 44 and a female 16-25, plus one additional male, 10-15. It reported one adult employed in agriculture. The 1830 Census (48:13) from China, Maine, reported the couple in their 30s, and 4 daughters, two under 5, and two 5-10.
The William and Mary Maxfield family was counted in China, Maine, in the 1850 Census (258:206) as follows;

"H. W. Macksfield," probably our Henry W., was also recorded in Benton, in the household of David (age 50) and Betsey E. (age 48) Hanson (Me 6:976).
William McCrillis Maxfield died at China, Maine on 4 January 1867 (VR Me), recorded as follows:

His widow, Mary Maxfield, died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where son William had settled, on 17 July 1889 (VR Me; NMGR 7:64). She also was buried at China Village Cemetery.
