The main source of information for this web page is a genealogy prepared by the Shaubach family, which used to hold annual reunions at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on Father's Day. This document of 13 legal size pages, mimeographed, produced about 1950, was distributed to family members. It traces all descendants, not just those with the surname. Any family members or possible family members requesting a look up of information from this document, may contact me, Charles Maxfield, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Henry Schaubach came to America from Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, in the year 1832. According to naturalization records in the Court House at Lancaster, Pennsylvania (1838, #8), he came here in 1832 at the age of 17 years. He must, therefore, have been born about 1815. He settled in the vicinity of Paradise, Pennsylvania, and later owned a tract of land in what is now the village of Paradise. He married Catherine Esbenshade, a daughter of Daniel Esbenshade and Elizabeth Lefever Esbenshade. . . . It appears that after the death of his wife (possibly arounf 1875) Henry Schaubach migrated to Nottoway County, Virginia. His son Martin went with him and remained there. His daughter Elizabeth also went to Virginia, but subsequently returned to Pennsylvania. Henry Schaubach died [blank space] and is buried in "The Pines" which is the family burial plot on his farm in Nottoway County, Virginia, which farm is now (1950) in the possession of Charles Martin Schaubach. As the above indicates, Henry married CATHERINE2 ESBENSHADE (Daniel1).
Henry and Catherine were reported by the 1860 census (CR 1860: 1121:676) at Kinzers Post Office, Paradise Township:

The 1880 census (CR 1880: 1382:152B) reported Henry in the Blendon district of Nottoway County, Virginia:
Henry Schaubach and his wife Catherine Esbenshade had the following children:
