The 1930 census (2456:5A) reported the family at Half Run, Occoquan Township, Prince William County. Alton Maxfield, 52, was a farmer; wife Ella was 46; son Owen D., 24, drove a government truck for a commissary. Alton and Ella were married at ages 22 and 18 respectively.
Ella Maxfield died on January 1967 (SSDI).
