Albert Martin, age 14, was still living in the household of his aunt Keziah in the 1870 census (1358:1:162A).
Albert Martin married ELIZABETH K. GROFF Leaman, daughter of John Rush Groff and his wife Mary Kreider, and widow of Christian Leaman. They were married at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holy Trinity, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, by F. Greenwald, Pastor, on 22 December 1881. Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania on 13 August 1855.
Albert and Elizabeth Martin were living at Smithville, in Providence Township, in 1882 and 1890. In the latter year he was called a laborer (Dir Lanc 1890: 355).
Albert Martin died at Lancaster on 6 March 1923. The death record gave the cause of death as uremia, with the contributory cause of prostrate cancer (Pa Deaths 26259: 232). He died at 9:30 pm., at the home of his son Henry, where he was living at the time. He was 68 years old. Albert was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster, on 9 March. His wife Elizabeth had died in 1918.
The following day, the estate of Albert Martin came before Probate Court in Lancaster County, and letters of administration were granted. An inventory of the estate was filed on 16 March, and a final account filed on 3 October of the same year. The probate records called him Albert Martin of Lancaster City, not married (that is, widowed). He left three children, (1) Henry Martin, 532 N. Mary St., Lancaster, (2) Frank Martin, West Quarryville, Pennsylvanis, (3) Mary Ida Reese, New Holland, Pennsylvania. The balance for distribution totaled $1628.61. Bills paid by his executors included his subscription to the Church of God. (LCCH Mar 1923: 81; N1:476; U3:292).
